Genus Scolytodes Ferrari is a very diverse group of Neotropical bark beetles. recent gathering by hand and canopy fogging in Ecuador resulted in many new records. Overlap in species composition between the samples of the canopy and the soil is very low, and fogging the canopy reveals the highest proportion of undescribed species. Altogether we reported Scolytodes records for 55 species from Ecuador, including 40 species new to science: Scolytodes pseudoatratus Jordal and Smith, sp. November, Scolytodes latipes Jordal and Smith, sp.
Molecule Characterization of Fish Parasites Kudoa Myoliquefactive mirabilis (Cnidaria, Kudoidae) of SE Indian Ocean and Its Phylogenetic Relationships with thyrsites Kudoa Species Complex
Kudoa Myxosporean parasites of the genus are parasitic fish of great economic importance, because some species can affect the quality of fish fillet to produce macroscopic cyst or produce post mortem myoliquefaction, often referred to as ‘the soft flesh’. Kudoa mirabilis is’ soft-inducing flesh’ species was originally described based on muscle morphology of Trichiurus lepturus from the Indian Ocean. An integrative morphological and genetic characterization K. mirabilis of host species caught off the coast of Tanzania here provided.
Spores are stellate with four polar capsules uneven, showing similarities with thyrsites Kudoa. For comparative purposes and validation, K. mirabilis compared morphological and genetic isolates K. thyrsites reference, including the newly acquired samples of the type of host Atun Thyrsites SE caught in the Atlantic Ocean. spore morphology analysis revealed key diagnostic characteristics clearly distinguish the two species Kudoa. Phylogenetic analysis based on the SSU and LSU rRNA genes showed that K. mirabilis are different species and valid, represents the sister group to K. thyrsites subclade comprising several isolates from Japan and one single isolates from South Africa. This finding raises questions about the true diversity K. thyrsites may be hidden in the complex.

Molecular characterization of Malapterurus minjiriya Sagua, 1987 and phylogenetic relationships within the genus Malapterurus (Silurifomes, Malapteruridae) from inland waters Nigeria
Molecules (mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit 1-COI) analyzes were performed to characterize the lesser known Malapterurus minjiriya of inland waters of Nigeria. integrative taxonomy, which involves molecular and morphological data, confirms the identity of M. minjiriya. matrilineal lineage reveals sister relationship with M. electricus minjiriya M. and M. microstoma. Further genetic analysis showed evidence of divergence of a population in electricus M. and M. beninensis.
